The city of Camarillo and Camarillo library will “adopt” a book, using grant money to produce community events centered on the book’s theme and bringing residents together to read and discuss the book.
Fifty-five California cities and 400 U.S. cities participate in the One City, One Book program, Camarillo city librarian Barbara Wolfe told the City Council on Wednesday evening.
“We think it will inspire and spark community conversations,” Wolfe said.
The One City, One Book program — founded in Seattle — was librarian Nancy Pearl’s idea.
“She’s quite famous in the librarian world,” Wolfe said. “She s
