Free Cone Day At Ben & Jerry’s April 3

Ben & Jerry’s celebrates 34 years of business Tuesday with its annual Free Cone Day at participating Scoop Shops. Stop in between noon and 8 p.m. for a free scoop of your favorite flavor.

This year, the Vermont-based ice cream company introduces Greek frozen yogurt to its product line, in such flavors as Raspberry Fudge Chunk, Peanut Butter Banana, Strawberry Shortcake and Blueberry Vanilla Graham.

Participating Scoop Shops in Connecticut include locations in Branford, Canton and West Hartford, and stores at Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun casinos. Ben & Jerry’s outposts at Showcase Cinemas in Manchester and Connecticut Post 14 De Lux in Milford are not included.

ASSUMPTION by Percival Everett

Debra Sharon Davis shares insights on John Lennon, pop culture

In the 1980s, Debra Sharon Davis was a young woman working on her own as a journalist. She traveled with the Rolling Stones and also interviewed John Lennon’s close friend, the late singer/songwriter, Harry Nilsson, who shared some unknown insights about Lennon, including the fact that he struggled with bulimia.

Life moved forward and Davis filed away her notes. She got married at 20, divorced, raised two daughters as a single parent and moved on to other things, including working as a screenwriter and founding her own companies, the Westlake Village-based Davis Communications Group Inc.
