Aerosmith Enter Studio To Record New Album

Hot on the heels of the news that Madonna will be releasing a wholly and totally unnecessary album next year,  Rolling Stone reported today that Aerosmith, too, are hard at work on a wholly and totally unnecessary album (it will be their fourteenth studio disc).  So, once again, Steven Tyler will have an excuse to dress like your wacky grandma from Arizona and do his best Mick Jagger impression on tour.

According to Rolling Stone:

“Last month we told you that Aerosmith were going to enter the studio in the second week of July to begin work on their long-awaited 14th studio album. Turns out they were so anxious to begin that they started early. Aerosmith hits the studio with Jack Douglas today, drummer Joey Kramer yesterday. One word bout 1st day n studio Inspiring. For any doubters out there, he also a photo of himself in a recording studio with producer Jack Douglas.”

Sigh.

Well, I suppose it would be too much to ask of band, that they please stop releasing mediocre music that serves only to tarnish their legacy and diminish the power of their earlier, far better works.  Oh, well.  If it keeps Tyler off of TV for awhile, maybe there’s  a silver lining after all.

What do you think of Aerosmith’s decision to record a new album?
